Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a severe anxiety disorder that arises after an individual is exposed to a traumatic event. The trauma can be life-threatening, such as witnessing or experiencing death or serious injury. PTSD affects a person’s emotional and mental well-being, often leading to a heightened state of fear, helplessness, or horror in response to the event.

Symptoms are typically grouped into three main categories:
At Triumph Youth Services, we understand the profound impact PTSD has on teens. Our therapeutic approach is designed to help them process trauma, manage emotional and physical symptoms, and build resilience.
We use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a primary treatment method, which helps teens identify and change negative thought patterns associated with the trauma. CBT teaches coping strategies to manage fear, anxiety, and the emotional distress that often follows traumatic events.
To further support trauma recovery, our trained technicians also incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and the Safe and Sound Protocol. EMDR helps teens reprocess distressing memories in a safe, structured way, reducing their emotional charge. The Safe and Sound Protocol uses sound-based therapy to help regulate the nervous system, improve emotional control, and create a greater sense of safety and connection.
In addition to individual therapy, group and family therapy sessions are incorporated to ensure a holistic approach to healing. These sessions allow teens to express their feelings in a supportive environment, promoting healthy interactions with others and improving their ability to cope with stress.
Our Positive Peer Culture fosters a supportive and structured environment where teens can process their emotions, build life skills, and learn healthier behavioral patterns. Peer mentoring and group counseling are key elements of this approach, helping teens connect with others who share similar experiences and progress together.
Our highly trained staff members serve as mentors, providing guidance, setting boundaries, and helping teens work through their issues. They create a safe, compassionate environment where teens are held accountable for their progress while learning to manage their PTSD symptoms effectively.
