Observation & Assessment (OA)

Short-Term Residential Treatment for Teen Boys

At Triumph Youth Services, our 45-day Observation & Assessment (O&A) program offers immediate support for families in crisis. This short-term residential program provides a structured, 24-hour supervised environment focused on stabilization, safety, and in-depth evaluation of your son’s emotional, behavioral, educational, and psychiatric needs.

During this critical period, each student receives:

  • Comprehensive mental health evaluation by a licensed therapist

  • Psychiatric assessment with medication review (if applicable)

  • Academic and cognitive evaluations

  • Individualized treatment and education plans

Following the assessment phase, families receive detailed recommendations and can choose to transition into Triumph’s Residential Treatment Program or explore alternative options that best fit their son’s needs.

Personalized Care & Outdoor Growth Opportunities

Triumph offers an intimate campus setting with small group sizes—limited to 20 participants in the O&A program—to ensure each student receives individual attention. With a 1:4 staff-to-student ratio and additional support from therapists, teachers, and administrators, students benefit from a highly supportive environment.

Each student has a staff mentor who partners with their therapist to guide them through treatment and help build trust and accountability. As students progress, they participate in outdoor activities that support emotional regulation, peer relationships, and life skills development, including:

  • Art, cooking, exercise, and recreational sports

  • Outdoor adventures like hiking, fishing, snowboarding, and camping

The annual Alaska Adventure on the Kenai Peninsula is a highlight, offering fishing, wildlife exploration, and unforgettable experiences that help students build confidence and form lasting memories.
